Congratulations to the following members who received service awards at the 2007 AGM at the National Conference in Dallas this year. The awards were issued as follows:

The President's Award

The President's Award is conferred upon a member who has contributed outstanding service to the chapter during the president's term of office. This year's recipient has done a very important and demanding job for HHRW during the past two years. As Contest Chair, Sharon Lanergan has coordinated our Romance Through the Ages contest, lining up category chairs, judges, and advertising the contest for entrants. RTtA contributes to a large part of our revenues, and we thank Sharon for her dedication and service to our Chapter. Sharon will receive an RWA service award pin.

The Legenda Aurea Service Award & Scholarship

The Legenda Aurea is the service award presented by HHRW to a chapter member who has provided outstanding service to HHRW and who has become a legend among us.

This year's recipient has stepped forward time and again when the chapter needed her, volunteering more than once to do the most demanding volunteer job HHRW has. She first stepped into the role as Education Chair when tragedy struck our board in 2003 and the then president had to step down. The Education Chair is in charge of our online campus and duties include lining up instructors, advertising the courses, enrolling strudents, overseeing all of the different online conferences and the Bootcamp, and keeping track of payments. She remained the Education Chair for several years before stepping down. However, when we needed her again in 2006, she graciously and selflessly stepped forward to again head the Education Committee that is such an important part of HHRW. It is with great pleasure that we announce the 2007 recipient of the Legenda Aurea Service Award, Laura Drewry.

The Teresa Eckford Grant

The Teresa Eckford Grant shall be awarded to an HHRW member who has made the most significant contribution to the newsletter during the past year. The winner will receive the cost of one contest entry, not to exceed the cost of the Golden Heart/RITA. Leah Farrin has been awarded the Teresa Eckford Grant.

The Bards Scroll Award

The Bards Scroll Award is given to a person who contributed an article to the newsletter in the past year. All the names of those who contributed an article are put in a 'hat' and a name is drawn. The winner receives a year's membership to HHRW. This year, the article It Happened in March by Deborah Brent was drawn.
